Without a daily practice and personal care to our inner garden, we leave it up to the unpredictable. It is our birthright to live a beautiful fulfilling life. However many of us doesn’t know how to connect with their true nature. The tools of Yoga guide us towards our true nature and liberation from the false Self to your authentic nature.
Self-practice is the traditional learning of yoga to reach the goal of self-realization, but in the West, most of the studio and yoga schools offers the same program for everyone without considering the Ayurvedic aspect of body-mind unic constitution. Implementing the traditional Indian yoga teaching lead to deepen the knowledge of the Self. The overall idea behind creating this program is to liberate yoga from the chains of pre-conceptions and introduce the authentic practice to the modern yoga world by reuniting the principles of ayurveda into the diagnose, design and practice of yoga which follows the guidelines described into the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
Yoga is derived from a Sanskrit word ‘yuj’ which loosely means ‘union.’ It is a path through which an individual unites with the entire existence. Sounds heavy, right? It basically means how you are not a separate entity but part of a greater energy. It increases your consciousness and makes you realize your true self-clearing the clutter of all that you imbibed as part of your culture, family, and education. It makes you realize that there is something more than what you see around. It is a deeply spiritual practice that is part philosophy, religion, science, and exercise.
Yoga goes back to the age of the Vedas or even before. The earliest Rig Veda mentions about yoga, and there are pictographic proofs found in the seals of the Indus Valley Civilization. Bhagavad Gita and the Shanti Parva of the Mahabharata elaborately talk about it. Later, Patanjali had compiled the ‘Yoga Sutras’ which became the go-to book for yoga and made him the ‘Father Of Yoga.’ He had spoken at length about the intricacies and details of the practice.
What is Ayurveda :
Ayurveda is a traditional Indian medicine system used for thousands of years, which gave birth to Chinese Traditional Medicine. Is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems and it is based on the idea of balance in bodily functions and uses diet, herbal treatment and yoga exercises to maintain optimal health. Ayurveda is a science of life developed more than 3’000 years ago in India. It’s based on a delicate balance between the mind, body and spirit.
Ayurveda is considered as one of the most ancient health sciences in the world. This natural science has survived through many centuries and civilizations on this planet and still stands like an old banyan tree in this modern world. Yoga is a main branch of this old tree, and has been passed through generations to become one of the most renowned ayurveda practices in the world.
The word yoga simply means union and the practice of yoga promotes the union of
Zarira (body), Manas (mind) and Prana (life energy), which is the triangular base of your life on this planet. As a branch of a tree can not survive without its roots, without the base of ayurveda yoga can’t be alive in its complete form. Ayur-veda means life-wisdom, which is essential to maintain a rich life on earth. According to ayurveda richness of your life is not measured on the basis of the material possessions and the wealth accumulated during a lifetime, but your life energy that promotes physical health and mental happiness in your life.
A rich life will automatically be tuned with the nature and constantly cleanse, heal and
prevent the body and mind from disease, which in turn helps to maintain a healthy and
complete life. Since ayurveda is the natural practice of life, every practice against the nature is considered as unhealthy living. Unfortunately our modern society is growing away from the natural practices, which is the main cause of our increasing health problems.
Observing the nature we can see that apart from humans all other creatures are
following a natural life by living with the nature and seasons in a harmony. They eat,
exercise, sleep, relax and make love according to their natural instinct while we humans are doing everything by the external force of our modern life system, which causes major health issues in our body and mind. In our modern life we compromise most of our natural health practices. We adapt fast food cultures and design stressful life environments. Our modern lifestyle’s comforts and facilities restrict the movements of our muscles and joints and gives wrong postures to our spine and shoulders, which makes us crippled even in our youthful times. We compromise our personal development and essential sleep with work and nightlife, and we seldom listen to our heart and live in the head only.
It is time to regain our life and see the truth, walk with life and not against it.
